Call for artists - Festival Active Pass

Call for artists for Festival Active Pass - A Birding, Nature and Arts Festival focused on the Salish Sea.

Festival Active Pass is in the process of planning for its 2015 event. In its inaugural year, this three day event will be held April 17 - 19, using Mayne Island as its first location. The festival will focus on local flora, fauna, and creativity and occurs during the highest migratory period of several bird species in Active Pass. The Southern Gulf Islands Arts Council will be partnering with the Mayne Island Conservancy Society to hold this event and encourage both tourism on the islands and an appreciation of our unique ecosystem.

We are sending a call out to any artists who would be interested in being added to the festival map, included in the open-air art market in Miners Bay Park, or has any ideas for events to include in the festival programming.

We will be including art in the following formats:
• Open Studios around the island (possibly organizing a studio tour)
• A Group show in one of the many venues on Mayne Island
• Plein-Air painting/creating in Miners Bay Park or the Lighthouse
• Demonstrations/Workshops in differing art techniques
• Tables in the tented Art Market in Miners Bay Park ($30 for the weekend)

The artwork can be of any media. Ideally, we would like to showcase art that focuses on local flora & fauna, Active Pass & The Salish Sea, birds & marine life and the Southern Gulf Islands.

If you would like to submit an idea for an arts segment of the festival, or would like to be part of the Festival Active Pass Art Market or Group Exhibition, please e-mail us at Please include your contact information.
