Lions Welcome All To Summerfest: Sat Jun 21

The Mayne Island Lions Club ends the Lions Year, when new officers take over, about the time of the summer solstice, and it marks the date with "Summerfest", a gourmet feast and fun at the Community Centre.

This year, "Summerfest" falls right on the summer solstice, June 21, and the Lions Club is inviting non-Lions to join them at the celebration. Lions Club members who want to come, have tickets reserved for them until June 11 at midnight, and then, on June 12 the sale is thrown open to non-Lions who are friends of the Lions Club. First come, first serve, as long as tickets last.

There will be an epicurean spread prepared by Shaun Fitzgerald of Saturna Island. Speeches will have word limits in very low digits. The winner of the Lions Fred Greenslade Scholarship will be announced. Revels will follow with a merry band of ukelele performers led by Paul Larsen of the Laverick School of Music, Victoria.

Tickets cost $30.00 and are available from Allan Evans, jaxevans@shaw.ca, or John Glover, john@maynestay.com. It's at the Community Centre, Saturday, June 21st, 6 pm. Tickets are limited.
