May Day Celebration: Sat May 17

The 9th Annual May Day Celebration will take place Saturday May 17th, presented by the Mayne Island Conservancy Society (MICS).

Come celebrate the greening of the earth. It all starts with the first Farmers Market of the season where MICS will have tables set up for face painting, garland and wand decorating. Get dressed in your finest outrageous dress and join in the fun that will begin as soon as the Farmers Market closes at 1 pm.

There will be singing and dancing and general merry-making before the procession begins to carry the May Pole from the Ag grounds to its place in Miners Bay Park. A new May Queen will be crowned in the centre of the labyrinth, accompanied by the Green Man, ferries and elves. There will be dancing around the festive May Pole, children's games, delicious cake and lemonade and a fabulous raffle. Don't miss it!
