Chasing Ice, MICS Salon Movie Night: Thu Jan 16

You are invited to the Mayne Island Conservancy's Mary Jeffery Resource Room (upstairs at the Root Seller) for our January Salon Movie Night starting at 7:30 pm. We will be showing the highly acclaimed film Chasing Ice, a documentary by reknowned National Geographic photographer James Balog. (75 minutes)

Balog was once skeptical about climate change. But through his Extreme Ice Survey, he discovers undeniable evidence of our changing planet. In Chasing Ice, Balog deploys revolutionary time-lapse cameras to capture a multi-year record of the world's changing glaciers. See his hauntingly beautiful videos compress years into seconds and capture ancient mountains of ice in motion as they disappear at a breathtaking rate. 'Chasing Ice' depicts a photographer trying to deliver evidence and hope to our carbon-powered planet.
