Contra Dance with Sybaritic String Band - Sat Oct 23

Dance on Mayne welcomes everyone to attend our Hallowe'en costumed Contra Dance at the Ag Hall Saturday October 23, 2010.

Doors open at 7 pm, and a beginner session will be held at 7:30 for those new to contra dancing. The dance starts at 8 and goes until 11.  Live music will be provided by one of BC's hottest contra bands, the Sybaritic String Band. Watch for our posters for information about them, or check them out on YouTube.

Don't know what contra dancing is?  It's a lively dance form done to fast paced jigs and reels.  All dances are called and taught on the spot.  If you know how to walk, and count to 8, you are good to go.  Knowing your right from your left is an advantage, but not a requirement. You don’t need a partner, and, — oh yeah, it's fun, too.

Tickets are $15, or $10 for kids 12 and under.  Tickets will be available at Happy Tides or phone Dieter at (250) 539-2205.  Attendance is capped at 50, so get your tickets soon to avoid disappointment. If you can volunteer to billet dancers from off island, please call Dieter at (250) 539-2205 or e-mail ken.brock@shaw.ca

So come on out, wear a costume (not too heavy - it's a very active dance), and prepare to have fun!
