A Victorian Christmas Concert - Dec 3rd

The Salt Spring Island Fiddlers invite you to A Victorian Christmas Concert on Dec. 3rd.

The 12 talented violin students who make up the Salt Spring Island Fiddlers are already well into rehearsals for the evening of Christmas Carols,  stories, dance and Victorian treats.  The program will be narrated by Kaya Hunter who will put all the music in context with background and anecdotes about Christmas in Victorian times.

The young musicians are all middle and high school students who are part the Fiddler’s Hatchery, the Salt Spring Island Violin Studio run by Carolyn Hatch.  “These young people are not only becoming proficient musicians, they work together well and have been performing professionally around the island,” said Hatch, a professional musician as well as a teacher.  The fiddlers will play a stunning array of Christmas Carols from all over the world as was common in Victorian times. Some of the performers will be dancing  English Country Dances and there will also be singing and some poetry.  In lieu of an intermission there will be a Victorian Era Party which includes snacks, drinks, Victorian poetry and, of course, more music and dance!

The group will be performing A Victorian Christmas Concert on Mayne Island at the Agricultural Hall on Thursday, December 3th at 7:00pm. Tickets are $15 ($10 for students) and include snacks and non alcoholic drinks. Tickets available at The Trading Post and at the door.
