Mayne Island Library Closure

As many of you have already learned, the repairs to the library have been extensive and prolonged. Consequently, the library will remain closed for an undetermined period of time. There will be no library access for books nor for any other planned activity such as the TCAC Art shows.

We will announce the re-opening date when known.

We apologize for any inconvenience.

Ed Pedersen, Library Chair.

  1. Its a fairly new building, what on earth could be wrong with it?

  2. I don't know the details myself, but I've seen that the basement appears to be dug up.

  3. there were apparent initial design and construction errors that resulted in significant leaks in the basement ... our "mom" show had to exit that room during the august rains ... serious problem ... thr room is useless unless it was fixed ... and the repairs appear to be more significant than initially thought.

  4. G. Potter...taxpayer, mostly ignored.Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at 2:57:00 PM PST

Who is paying (like in dollars) for this total screwup? Any idiot in this world knows that a basement will leak without proper sealant. Who is the dumb architect and why didn't building inspectors catch this? What are our island trustees doing besides sitting on the sidelines with no comment? Disgusting!
